Wizard Chess 2

Full six weeks after initial release, I finally gathered the courage to announce "Wizard Chess 2" widely.

To me, this game is a pure labor of love. For a while, I've been striving to take the concept of Heroes of Might and Magic's battles, and use it in a different setting - in this case, a run-based game loosely resembling a roguelike. The idea is simple: you start level 1 with a certain army and unique ability, and need to make a series of choices (whom to fight, and for what reward) before defeating the boss and advancing to the next level. As your army and abilities grow, you have to finish all 7 levels and fight the Big Boss.

Your choices can yield various rewards: more gold, dwellings to recruit more army, a temple that imbues you with a blessing, an army grower that increases your army under certain conditions, and other various things. You have to craft your path through the level and make choices that synergize well together. For instance, if you get a Fly blessing from a temple (which lets your whole army fly for several turns) but most of your army can already fly, you are kiiiind of not synergizing well. Ditto for having an army grower of +3 Demons, but not actually keeping any Demons in the army.

Speaking of Demons - there are over 80 units in the game, each with its own combination of stats, special abilities, and belonging to one of 7 tribes (Demons are one). Some army growers and blessings apply to specific tribes only. Once you've played several times, you learn the strengths and weaknesses of various units and tribes, and can navigate them better.

Remember we mentioned bosses? One thing I always lamented in the Heroes of Might and Magic series was that they did not have giant-ass units as bossfights. Why does every battle have to be between hordes of Goblins, Swordsmen, and other lowly creatures? Why can't my army of a hundred Dragons fight some damn God with 100k HP? Well, I fixed it! Some of the high-tier bosses in Wizard Chess 2 have this giant unit you have to defeat. Moreover, every boss after level 1 has its own soundtrack (...I didn't write any of them. I might get DMCA'd one day.)

The game also keeps statistics of your playthroughs - how many times you've played each hero, and how many times you've seen and defeated (or succumbed to) a given boss. We also have a leaderboard to immortalize your adventures.

Give it a try!
